Roll bar project has been dropped as of the 21st of Nov. Bar is now SOLD and the roll cage project is completed.
Safety it #1 for this project, but budget is important too.
My FIAT 124 came with a roll bar from AutoPower. The prev owner had added side bars and down tubes along the front A pillar. Photos from when I bought the car.
According to CASC and VARAC rules there is nothing wrong with this roll bar. Meets the 1.750" tube spec. The side bars are an added bonus, but I need to add better plates.
The bar is a little narrow on the car for my tastes, but will do for a season. I might see if I can add some tubes to widen the profile of the setup. I might consider a down tube or 2 side pillars bars.
I will run a full multipoint cage, but that is $2000.00 easily. It will come in time.
For now I've opted to reuse the roll bar and add the required plates.

RACE ROLL BAR
The Race roll bar is designed for solo, autocross and high speed time trials. All Race roll bars have a diagonal cross brace and most have a harness mount tube.
Autopower will select tube size and type for your needs.
Race roll bars are made with 1.750 x .120 DOM steel.
Cars weighing more than 3500 lbs. use 2" x 120 ERW steel.
4 point mounting with welded diagonal crossbrace.
All necessary installation and mounting hardware with back-up plates is included.
